In this country, at a frontier with Rwanda, Innocent Pendakasi
created twogroups with
the hope that painting re-enchanted the world of the children
who know the violence due to the civil war.
These children want
to have friends in our countries, where life is mucheasier.

Tumaini
The constellation’s group of Goma is named Tumaini, a swahili word
meaning “hope”.
The children of the group, composed by 18 boys and 4 girls, are
between 4 and 16 years old.
This group is at Rutshuru, its name is Wangeve. This nandé’s word means
“porter of hope” or “survivor”.
25 boys and 2 girls paint three times a week. A lot of children don’t go
to school.
